Sexual Health Clinic Provider Credentialing Process
The Division of HIV and STD Programs (DHSP) is requiring all medical providers to complete the Sexual Health Clinic (SHC) Provider Credentialing Process no later than 6 months
after provisional privileges have been granted. After you have completed all the following requirements, you will receive an approval of privileges letter from the Division of
Medical and Dental Affairs (DMDA).
SHC Provider Credentialing Process consists of:
Introduction to DHSP Meeting (via Microsoft Teams)
Proctoring for STI/Biomedical Prevention Skills (Direct observation by a credentialed peer:
10 STI/STD New Patient Visits
2 PrEP New Patient Visits
SHC Provider Credentialing Examination: The Credentialing examination is composed of 60 questions (multiple choice, true/false) and will be completed via
Microsoft Forms. This examination will assess provider knowledge regarding STIs, biomedical prevention indications, as well as clinical management and follow-up.
A score of 75% or more is required to pass. If a provider does not pass the exam or skills assessment, a coaching session will be provided by DHSP, DPH Clinic
Services Medical Director, or another designee.
