Despite the challenges of this past year, LA County's Prevention network and its coalitions have persevered. Substance Abuse Coalitions continue to address the environmental impacts of substance use among youth.
The non-Service Planning Areas (SPA) coalitions have maintained a broad network of stakeholders and community groups to advance the health of youth and their families with education and actions directed at reducing substance use access and availability issues.
As we move forward into 2021, thank you to the Environmental Prevention Service and non-SPA Coalitions' leadership:

SAPC Issues, Training & Resources
LA County Red Tier Re-Openings:
As a result of LA County's decline in COVID-19 case rate and changes the state made to the Blueprint, LA County will be moved from the purple tier into the red tier of the State's Blueprint for a Safer Economy.
Schools are now able to offer in-person learning for students in grades 7 through 12, with strict adherence to safety protocols. DPH is working with school administrators and benefitting from their wise counsel as they prepare for school re-openings. Like our network of Prevention Providers, teachers, students, and parents have found innovative ways to adapt to virtual learning and create a safe space to continue the vital education of our children and youth!
In addition to schools, restaurants, movie theatres, gyms and other businesses are permitted to operate with less restrictions. See link here.

SPA Coalition News (EPS)
Join one of the Eight Service Planning Area Coalitions in efforts to work collaboratively and impactfully to improve substance use risks and create healthier environments for youth,
their families, and communities through the use of evidence-based strategies, such as convening town halls, social media campaigns, collection of unused/expired medications, deemed approved ordinance, and others.
The SPA Coalitions are making strides every day to address the determinants of health that negatively impact substance use and abuse for LA County residents.
