Since its inception in the Spring of 2016, the Task Force has elevated opportunities to improve health equity in Los Angeles County. Task Force members have weighed in on critical policy decisions, including public health protections for people living near neighborhood oil drilling sites, Measure A allocations for equitably improving access to local parks, and priorities for the new county-wide
Office of Violence Prevention, housed within DPH.
Additionally, the Task Force serves as the advisory body to the
Center for Health Equity and provides leadership and strategic direction for community health planning in L.A. County, which includes the
Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP),
and other strategic efforts to promote strong population health,
health equity, and racial justice. Notably, the Task Force
helped develop an action plan
which has been adopted by the Center for Health Equity and played an instrumental role in co-hosting community engagement sessions to identify priority CHIP strategies.
Task Force members are appointed for a two-year term either through selection by the Board of Supervisors or by a nominating committee. The
fourth cohort of the Task Force began their term in June 2022, representing a wide array of experience and expertise. The
Office of Planning, Integration and Engagement (PIE) - Planning
Unit is excited to staff the Task Force and support their efforts to advance health, equity and community well-being in Los Angeles County.
