The Storytelling Project Launch
On September 30, 2022, OVP and the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture hosted the public launch of Violence, Hope, and Healing in Los Angeles County. The event, held at the California Endowment, featured interviews with five storytellers, and remarks by Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the LA County Department of Public Health, Andrea Welsing, director of the Office of Violence Prevention , and Kristin Sakoda, director of the LA County Department of Arts and Culture, among others. Olga Koumoundouros, Creative Strategist-Artist in Residence with the Department of Arts and Culture, received a commendation for her extraordinary work compiling dozens of interviews for the book.

The Office of Violence has produced a 9 minute video about the making of "Violence, Hope, and Healing in Los Angeles County." The women who conceived of and launched this extraordinary project - Deborah Allen, Kimberly Glann, Olga Koumoundouros, and Andrea Welsing - discuss its origins, the change in plans caused by a once-in-a-century pandemic, the effects of hearing the voices of participants, and its importance, now and in the future.
