South LA TTA Pilot Project
In 2017-2018 TPI implemented a pilot capacity building project focused on violence intervention agencies in South Los Angeles, providing intensive 1:1 technical assistance to 30 agencies and a series of public workshops.
The Probation Department provided funding to provide training and technical assistance to violence prevention and intervention community based organizations through the Trauma Prevention Initiative (TPI). Consultants, working as the Nonprofit Impact Team (NIT), offered free, short-term technical assistance to community-based nonprofits experiencing organizational challenges resulting from COVID-19 shut-down orders. In 2020, the NIT provided 118 one-on-one consulting projects to 101 organizations who requested assistance. The organizations were located in all eight SPAs and all five Supervisorial districts of Los Angeles County. This program ended on the 28th of December in 2020.

Peer to Peer (P2P) Violence Prevention Learning Academy
P2P will develop infrastructure to support peer specialists such as promotoras, peer advocates, and community health and intervention workers. P2P will pilot a curriculum to cross-train peer specialists in healing, self-care, trauma-informed practice, and connections between forms of violence. Peer-system navigation teams will be established in TPI Communities to improve access to services and build career pathways.
