Data Collection & Analysis - Rush and Emergency Birth Certificates
Rush and Emergency Birth Certificates
Fee
Rush or Emergency service request is
$40.00
As of January 1, 2013, a non-refundable service fee
will be applied to each rush or emergency request.
This service fee will be added to the cost of certified
copies of the birth certificate and will be collected at
the time service is provided.
This service is for NEWBORNS only. Birth Certificates may be obtained from our office on newborns when the hospital of birth has rushed the document with the emergency status. Please make this request through the hospital birth clerk
prior to contacting us.
What is "RUSH"?
If a certified copy of the birth certificate is needed within two weeks, it will be considered a rush. However, the Vital Records Office (VRO) will require proof of needing the rush for the order to be processed such as airline tickets or a notarized statement that the parents and child will be traveling by car to a foreign destination.
The VRO maintains the right to refuse a "rush" if proper documentation is not provided. Currently, most birth certificates are available within a
month from the date of birth (usually less), provided
the certificate is submitted by the hospital to the
health department in a timely manner.
Please contact us at (213) 288-7812 if you have any
questions regarding this service.
