The Los Angeles County Cardiovascular and School Health Program works with partners to develop and implement physical activity programs in school, community, and health care settings. It helps communities and institutions create opportunities for all people in Los Angeles County, especially those with fewer resources, to live active, healthy daily lives.

Los Angeles Countywide Comprehensive Parks Needs Assessment Plus

The 2016 Countywide Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment (PNA) quantifies the need for parks and recreation resources in Los Angeles County (cities and unincorporated areas). The PNA informs planning, decision-making, and resource allocation for parks and recreation. Visit the report's webpage to view the final report in various languages, as well as resources and interactive maps and data for your community.

The 2022 Parks Needs Assessment Plus (PNA+) is a focused update to the 2016 Los Angeles Countywide Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment (PNA) and serves as the County’s 30×30 strategy for land conservation and restoration. Get more information on PNA+ here


Choose Health LA: Parent's Guide to Physical Education

This guide is intended for parents, and describes how parents can support their child's health through physical activity, the differences between physical education and physical activity, the benefits of effective physical education, California laws regarding physical education, who can teach this subject, how grades must be assigned, and the physical education requirements for high school students. This brochure is available in English and Spanish.
