TAX-DEFAULTED PROPERTY FOR SALE AT AUCTION

The Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office will be selling tax-defaulted properties at public auction Feb. 9 and 10, 2009 at the Los Angeles County Fairplex in Pomona. Bidders must register between Jan. 5-23.  Detailed information is provided regarding the auction and how to purchase an auction book listing the properties.

MARK RIDLEY-THOMAS ELECTED SUPERVISOR

Mark Ridley-Thomas has been elected to replace retiring County Supervisor Yvonne B. Burke. Ridley-Thomas will become supervisor at noon on Dec. 1, representing the Second District. Semi-official results of the Nov. 4 election are online. More than 4.3 million registered to vote in Los Angeles County and more than 82 percent cast ballots.

FERAL CATS UP FOR ADOPTION

The County is removing 150-200 feral cats from Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center in Downey and is asking members of the public to contact the County Animal Care and Control Department if they are interested in adopting any of the animals.

FLU CLINICS SCHEDULED

Free flu vaccines will be given at clinics offered by the County Department of Public Health beginning Oct. 20.  Shots and FluMist vaccine will be available at schools,  churches and community sites.  The clinic schedule is online.
